Prof Lucian Mihai Itu

Lucian Mihai Itu is the Research Group head of the Artificial Intelligence team at Siemens SRL. He received the Dipl.-Eng. degree in Systems Engineering from the Transilvania University of Brasov in 2009 and the PhD degree in Systems Engineering in 2013 after having collaborated with Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, USA during the doctoral studies. He has participated in numerous European, National and Industry funded R&D projects. His research interests are: artificial intelligence with a focus on machine learning, modelling of the human physiology, and high-performance computing. He has published over 70 papers in various international journals and conferences. He is joint author of over 60 international patent applications.

Marica Vasile George

Marica Vasile George is a Machine Learning Engineer at Siemens, specializing in contextual language models for the clinical domain. He designs algorithms for tasks like named entity recognition and summarization, integrating knowledge bases for enhanced performance. Marica develops hybrid training methods and ensures cloud deployment of models. With a Ph.D. in Financial Contagion, his background includes econometrics and complex network modelling. He has participated in numerous European, National and Industry funded R&D projects and has published research in the domain of medical AI.
