New open position: LJMU seeks research associate for groundbreaking AI solutions for AF-related stroke research!

TARGET’s project leader Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has announced a research associate position, 3 years fixed term (with the possibility of extension), at the School of Computer Science and Mathematics to support the delivery of the EU Project TARGET. The researcher will have the opportunity to contribute to TARGET’s ambition to develop novel AI-based personalised, integrated, multi-scale computational models (virtual twins) and decision-support tools for the disease pathway of stroke related to atrial fibrillation, starting from the healthy state, pathophysiology and disease onset, progression, treatment and recovery.

Research focus

The selected candidate will work within the dynamic international consortium of the project to undertake research, conduct and record the outcome of experiments and conduct literature and database surveys, while contributing to the analysis and presentation of results to internal and external audiences. The focus of the position is to conduct research in the development of digital twin technology in line with the expected deliverables for the project.

Responsibilities include

- Undertake the collection of research data;

- Design, implement, test and document appropriate research methods associated with the area of research;

- Liaise with other researchers, both internal and external, and collaborate to execute project deliverables;

- Contribute to the analysis of research data as directed, liaise regularly with the principal investigator about study progress and write progress reports;

- Assist in the preparation and submission of papers for presentation at regional, national or international conferences and for publication in peer-reviewed journals;

- Assist in the supervision of student projects.

Eligibility

The position is opened to candidates who have a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD or equivalent experience in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics or related subject. Candidates should have detailed understanding, knowledge and programming skills of machine learning algorithms, good knowledge of Python/R or similar and experience in conducting high-quality research involving machine learning and publishing high-quality academic peerreviewed articles.
