Help shape the future of hearth health: join the UE’s Call for Evidence

  • 29 April 2026

The European Commission is inviting citizens, healthcare professionals, patient groups, and organisations across Europe to help shape the future of cardiovascular disease prevention by sharing their views on improving the early identification and screening of cardiovascular diseases.

This initiative is part of the Safe Heart Plan, a strategy designed to enhance the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The European Commission stresses the importance of addressing cardiovascular diseases, as they are the leading cause of death and disability within the EU. Despite their significant impact, fewer than half of the EU Member States currently offer dedicated cardiovascular screening programs. This gap in health services highlights the urgent need for expanded screening and preventive measures, making public contributions even more essential.

The Call for Evidence is a chance to share views on existing challenges, potential solutions, and the impact of future actions. Contributions are welcomed from individuals, patient organizations, NGOs, healthcare professionals, researchers, academic institutions, and other stakeholders who wish to contribute their perspectives.

Don’t miss the opportunity to get involved. The consultation is open until May 19, 2026.
