This December, Ghent will become the meeting point for Europe’s health data and digital innovation community, as the European Institute for Innovation through Health Data (i~HD) celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special edition of its Annual Conference, themed “A Decade of Joining the Dots – Towards Bridging Data Spaces.”

The two-day event, taking place on 3–4 December 2025, will bring together policymakers, researchers, clinicians, innovators, and patient representatives to explore how Europe can advance towards a connected, trusted, and inclusive European Health Data Space (EHDS).

The programme features high-level plenary sessions and interactive parallel discussions on some of the most pressing topics in health data innovation:

• Ensuring informed, equitable and safe EHDS opt-outs for citizens;
• Building trust and readiness for the adoption of AI in healthcare systems;
• Using synthetic and real-world data to drive safer, more transparent innovation;
• Improving the quality and interoperability of electronic health records across Europe;
• Empowering patients to take control of their digital health information.

Speakers include leading voices from the European Parliament, European Commission, WHO Europe, OECD, and major EU-funded projects such as IDERHA, OPTIMA, and xShare, alongside experts from academia, industry, and patient organisations.

Beyond the plenary discussions, participants will have opportunities for in-depth exchanges and networking, culminating in a celebratory anniversary dinner in the historic heart of Ghent.
