- 13 February 2024
TARGET’s partner Lund University has announced a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science, CEC. This role is centred on research activities in machine learning, imaging and big data with focus specifically on healthcare challenges.
Research focus
The selected candidate will be involved in TARGET's research activities, concentrating on computational and data handling aspects for development of personalised management of stroke related to atrial fibrillation. This full-time, fixed-term position spans two years and is based within the Computational Science for Health and Environment research group.
A key aspect of the project is the implementation of digital twins for the development of decision support tools for the stroke pathway, pathophysiology and disease onset, progression, treatment and recovery. The successful applicant will mainly contribute to the project’s WP6 Diagnosis and early management modelling of Atrial Fibrillation-Related Stroke (AFRS) in the virtual twin [Pillar II] led by Lund University.

Responsibilities
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as a stepping stone in an academic career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. While the primary responsibility is research, the position may include up to 20% teaching duties. The appointee will also have the opportunity for three weeks of professional development in higher education pedagogy.
The post-doctoral fellow will focus mainly on:
- Research in AI, big data challenges, and dynamic modelling
- Collaboration with academic institutions, healthcare and industry partners within the TARGET consortium
- Co-supervision of degree projects
- Minor teaching tasks within an introductory machine learning course.
