The George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Târgu Mureș is a public university in Târgu Mureș, Romania that was founded in 1948. Classified as a research and education university, it is one of the 6 traditional medical schools in Romania. UMFST’s Cardiology Department is internationally recognised for its high standards in quality of care, as well as for multiple research projects and clinical trials in cardiology. It is the national leader in Romania in interventional treatment of cardiovascular emergencies and cardiac imaging, having also a large retrospective patient database. George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Târgu Mureș is a member of the International Ranking Expert Group Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence. 

The project will be carried out at the Department of Cardiology and UMFST will contribute mainly to WPs 3 and 9: will provide data and clinical expertise and will disseminate TARGET’s results at the international conference CardioNET, organised by UMFST.

Prof Theodora Benedek

Theodora Benedek is Professor of Cardiology, Head of the Clinic Of Cardiology and Coordinator of the Center of Advanced Research in Multimodality Cardiac Imaging. PhD coordinator with currently 10 PhD students and 8 PhD with theses defended. President of the Romanian Society of Hypertension, she was PI in many international or national research projects or clinical trials. She has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and an impact factor of >300. Her research interests include atherosclerosis, acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrhythmia and heart failure.
