The TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT WIEN (TU Wien) was founded in 1815 and is Austria's largest research and educational institution in the field of technology and natural sciences. TU Wien participates in the TARGET project with two research units: the Databases and Artificial Intelligence Group leads WP3 and the work on data integration & sharing, the Computer Graphics Group contributes with model visualisations for the co-design and co-creation of TARGET’s tools (WP2). The Databases and Artificial Intelligence group’s research covers data and knowledge engineering, database management and theory, knowledge representation, reasoning as well as artificial intelligence, scheduling, and planning. The Computer Graphics group performs extensive fundamental and applied research in Computer Graphics. Its areas of expertise are modelling and rendering for computer graphics, visualisation and visual analytics, visual computing, and virtual environments.

Prof Katja Hose

Katja Hose is a full professor of Data Management at TU Wien's Databases and Artificial Intelligence research unit. Prior to joining TU Wien, she was a full professor at Aalborg University in Denmark and a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany. She received her PhD in Computer Science from Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. Her research is rooted in data and knowledge engineering and spans theory, algorithms, and applications of Data Science including graph databases, knowledge graphs, querying, analytics, and machine learning. She has also gained extensive experience in interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues from bioscience and medicine. She has published her work – situated at the confluence of data management, knowledge engineering, and machine learning – in more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Dr Renata Raidou

Renata Raidou is Assistant Professor in Medical Visualization and Visual Analytics at the Research Unit of Computer Graphics of the Institute of Visual Computing & Human-Centered Technology, at TU Wien, Austria. Previously, she was Assistant Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the Scientific Visualization and Computer Graphics Research Group of the Bernoulli Institute at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. She did her Post-Doc at the Institute of Visual Computing & Human-Centered Technology, at TU Wien. She received her Ph.D. in Medical Visualization from Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands, in 2017. For her Ph.D. dissertation, she obtained the Best Ph.D. Award 2018 of the EuroVis Awards Programme. Additionally, she was awarded the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine (1st Place) at Eurographics 2017. In 2022, she was also awarded the EuroVis Young Researcher Award. Her research focuses on the interface between Visual Analytics, Image Processing, and Machine Learning, with a strong focus on medical applications.

Dr Tomer Sagi

Dr. Sagi has been working with databases since he was 14. After several years as a business and IT consultant, Dr. Sagi obtained a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Technion. He then worked as an industrial researcher at HP Labs and subsequently GE Healthcare. Between 2017 and 2022, Dr. Sagi was a Lecturer at the University of Haifa, Department of Information Systems. Since 2022, he is a researcher and assistant professor at Aalborg University, the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Sagi’s research centers on the interface between AI and Databases, with an applicative focus on medicine, oceanography, and middle-east history. Dr. Sagi is affiliated with TU Wien as a guest researcher for the duration of the TARGET project.

Dr Milos Jovanovik

Milos Jovanovik is a postdoctoral researcher at the Databases and Artificial Intelligence group at TU Wien, Austria. He is also an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, N. Macedonia. His main research interest is in the domain of Knowledge Graphs (KGs) and their entire life-cycle: modeling, construction, enrichment and refinement, KG-based algorithms, KG-based data analytics and KG- based Al. He has extensive experience with consolidating and aligning data using Knowledge Graphs in the medical domain. Through his experience in both academia and the industry, he has taken an active and leading role in 10+ international and 25+ national research projects, he has published 60+ research papers and has co-authored 3 books.
