Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital was established as the Cardiothoracic Centre, Liverpool in 1991. LHCH is a twice outstanding-rated specialist heart and chest hospital, providing specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and respiratory medicine to a catchment area of 2.8M inhabitants, serving a community marked by increased prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. LHCH aims to deliver research of the highest quality into new and improved therapies, techniques and models of care, whilst maximising the potential of innovation to improve patient care. Dr Timothy A. Fairbairn MBChB, FRCP, PhD

Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in imaging. Medical Research Council CARP Fellow. Focused on cardiovascular imaging, big data, artificial intelligence and the development of new health technologies into the healthcare system. As chief investigator of the FISH and CHIPS study, I have determined the impact of CT FFR as a diagnostic tool in real-world practice, utilizing NHS digital derived clinical outcomes from large national datasets (5 million recorded hospital episodes). Society for Cardiovascular CT (SCCT) guidelines committee member, Journal for Cardiovascular CT (JCCT) associate editor. NICE technology adoption panel member, NICE diagnostic advisory committee member, NHS England clinical lead for a national pilot on CariHeart technology. NIHR associate director for the research scholar programme. British Heart Foundation (BHF) Translational Grant Award panel member. British Society Echo (BSE) research committee and EACVI CT working group and accreditation board member.

Dr Laurence P. Tidbury

Laurence Tidbury is the research IT systems and research data lead at LHCH, and data analyst for the Fish & Chips and Mushy Peas data sets. He completed his PhD in Visual Perception and has a special interest in Binocular vision and the value of stereopsis in the detection of volumetric information with a number of first author publications in the area, and additionally in pedagogical research. He holds a MRes in Health science research, and a PGCert and PGCE in education. He has worked as a PDRA in psychological sciences, a lecturer in health sciences at the University of Liverpool and a secondary school science teacher.

Dr Matthew A. Shaw

Matthew Shaw is the Data Science lead at LHCH. He has contributed analysis to several peer-reviewed journal articles covering a range of disciplines. He completed a PhD focussing on health-related quality of life in patients undergoing aortic aneurysm surgery and has a special interest in risk modelling and data visualisation. He also holds an MSc in Public Health Intelligence.
